Bird Watching

Barraba is famous for the development of the first “Bird Routes” in Australia. The bird routes utilize old drovers trails, now known as travelling stock routes and all 14 are signposted.

There are over 190 species of birds that have been seen in the district, with the endangered Regent Honeyeater the most sought after by local and international birdwatchers. Don't think that you have to follow the trails to see the birds in the area, just walking along the tree lined streets and parks of Barraba you will also be able to see the bird life in the area.
