The Commercial Hotel is a place to gather and enjoy food that nourishes in all ways; a place where you build community. When you walk in the door there is smile and a genuine hand shake or a slap on the back, welcoming you home. Great food provided by Rechelle and Allistair that is as likely to come from the kitchen garden as anywhere else, and a menu that makes you nod your head and smile. This is a place that is getting back to the basics and doing it with heart.

With a great atmosphere, excellent pub food and evening functions available, it is a warm and friendly place to stop in the heart of the New England only an hour from Tamworth.

 The Victoria Hotel

82 Queen Street
Barraba

Ph: (02) 6782 1004

The Victoria Hotel was built as a hotel, but initially the CBC Bank opened it as a bank. On 18th April 1894, the bank was held up and the Manager, Mr McKay was shot dead. The bushrangers were subsequently caught, Alex Lee and John Cummins were hung after being convicted of the crime. These two bushrangers were the first to be hung in Tamworth. After shooting the manager, the bushrangers heard his wife in the dining room and shot twice through the door at her, but missed her. The bullet holes are still in the door today!
